The Forsyth County commission is considering a change to the Animal Control Board, or “bite board,” composition. The original modification changed the third member from a representative of the local humane society to a resident who has “demonstrated a commitment to the protection and welfare of animals.” That phrase was added to the requirement for the second member, previously a resident selected by the veterinarian and humane society representative. Commissioners now propose that the third member come from an animal rescue organization and be chosen from a slate of nominees recommended by the other two members. A public hearing on the changes will be Dec. 5. Also during their work session Tuesday, commissioners: * Postponed discussion to Dec. 10 on a settlement agreement that would terminate the county’s lease with the Georgia Model Aviators Association at Eagle’s Beak in two years. * Approved a resolution for the condemnation of utility and temporary construction easements from three parcels of the same owner. The easements will allow for sewer lines to the county’s future Shakerag Wastewater Treatment Facility in south Forsyth. An appraisal values the easements at $56,500. * Set a public hearing for Dec. 19 on a Forsyth County addendum to the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual to clarify that stormwater facilities maintenance obligations apply to both new and existing subdivision property owners associations. * Granted a request for the city of Milton to rent field space for youth baseball starting summer through spring 2015 while the city closes its only park for renovations. The city has asked for help from several neighbors, and Forsyth County would assist with the 5- to 8-year-old divisions. * OK’d plans for an agreement with Triple Crown Sports to allow the organization to rent Forsyth County fields for a national softball tournament in July and an east coast tournament once in each of the following three years. * Awarded a bid to install a culvert on Parks Road at Six Mile Creek to Martin Contracting for about $224,000. The concrete culvert will replace existing pipes that failed during recent heavy rains and were temporarily repaired.
