Forsyth County Senior Services will hold its first all-ages community festival Saturday. The Pumpkin Palooza arts and crafts festival will also include live music, food, children’s activities and a pumpkin throwing contest.Sexton Hall Enrichment Center, the third senior services location, opened in 2011 and provides a large enough space for a community event, said Chris Luttrell, senior services program coordinator.“We want everybody to come have a good time,” Luttrell said. “We’ll have lots of music, arts and crafts vendors will be there, and some food trucks are coming in.”The “Chunkin’ Pumpkin” contest will challenge festival-goers to toss a pumpkin for distance.Luttrell said people can bring their own pumpkins, but some will also be available that were donated by Kinsey Family Farm.“We thought maybe after Halloween, people are tired of their pumpkins at this point and would like to have something fun to do with them,” she said.Winners of the contest’s age division and a scavenger hunt will receive T-shirts.Several arts and crafts vendors will set up indoors and outside, fitting with the theme of several programs offered at Sexton Hall, which Luttrell said allows people to enrich their lives through continued art, education and other opportunities. The event is free to attend, but will serve as a fundraiser for senior services through the vendors attending.Lutrell said interested vendors can still apply. For more information about the event or to register, call senior services at (770) 781-2178.
