Northside Hospital-Forsyth has been recognized through the Joint Commission’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures program. The local hospital, along with Northside’s main campus in Sandy Springs and its Cherokee campus, was honored for exemplary performance in the care of patients who have suffered heart failure, pneumonia or undergone surgery. Bob Quattrocchi, president and CEO of Northside Hospital, said the recognition reflects the concern that hospital staff members show all their patients.“Our employees and physicians are committed to offering the safest quality care and positive patient outcomes,” he said in a statement.“On the heels of other recognitions for quality that Northside has recently achieved, this distinction from the Joint Commission is further proof of their hard work.” The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 20,000 health care organizations and program in the United States. The Northside campuses are among 1,099 hospitals in the nation being recognized for 2012, representing the top 33 percent of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals. According to information on its website, the Top Performer on Key Quality Measures program “recognizes accredited hospitals that attain excellence on accountability measure performance.” The program is based on data reported in the previous year about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to be the best treatments for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services, stroke and immunization.
