Little William Dakota Alan Wallace likely will have plenty of adventures with his two big sisters, Alexis and Jade. “Hopefully, they won’t fight as much as my sister and I did with our younger brother,” joked Pamela Wallace, mother of the three, at Northside Hospital-Forsyth on Thursday. Her son was the first baby of 2014 born at the hospital in Forsyth County. He came into the world at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, weighing 7 pounds and 4 ounces and 20 inches long. As mother of the New Year’s baby, Wallace received three large bundles of diapers, stacked into tiers to look like a large cake, as well as a teddy bear and other baby care items. She said having her son’s birthday fall on Jan. 1 came as a big surprise.“I wasn’t expecting for him to be the New Year’s baby at all,” said Wallace, noting she had a doctor’s appointment scheduled for today. “But then I started going into labor around 7 o’clock Tuesday night.” Wallace said she and Gary Pennington, the baby’s father, are looking forward to getting him home to Alpharetta.“All of my kids are special, but there’s something really special about him,” Wallace said of little William. “I guess it’s because he’s a boy and the youngest.” Both of his sisters hope their mother is right about the specialness of their brother. In mom’s hospital room, almost in unison, both Alexis, 9, and Jade, 7, said, “I hope he acts different than that one,” as they pointed to each other. Despite the typical sibling difficulties, it seemed the girls would come together to help mom take care of their new baby brother. None of the three could take their eyes off little William.“He’s just perfect,” Pamela Wallace said.
