FORSYTH COUNTY -- Several Forsyth County high schools earned awards at the recent Georgia High School Association State Literary Championship. In state Class AAAAAA, Noah Causay of West Forsyth took first place in the boys’ dramatic interpretation, while Grace Aldis won the category for the girls’ competition. Lambert student Hannah Quire placed first in the girls’ essay competition for that classification and Braven Turner took fourth for the boys’ category. South Forsyth had the best local showing as a team. Students Shane Olcott and Anu Romesh each got first place for the boys’ and girls’ solo category and Juliana Lima placed second for girls’ extemporaneous speaking. In the quartet category, South also placed first, with the team of Evan Calatayuo, Barrett Crowder, Stephen Fodrolzi and Shane Olcott. Kayleigh Banks, Emily Hering and Claire Pappas took home first place in the trio category. Forsyth Central, which competes in state Class AAAAA class, also had several winners, with Austin Cowart claiming second place in boys’ dramatic interpretation and Dana Anderson tied for third in the girls’ category. Maggie Little placed second in the girls’ extemporaneous speaking. The school also tied for fourth place overall as a team. Though it took first place in the regional boys’ and girls’ extemporaneous and girls’ dramatic interpretation categories, North Forsyth didn’t take part in the state tournament, school officials said.
