FORSYTH COUNTY — On a night with few agenda items, several of which were postponed, Forsyth County commissioners did approve plans for one residential development in south Forsyth. The commission voted 5-0 on Thursday to rezone more than 10 acres at Daves Creek Drive and Vicki Lane from agricultural to single family residential, or Res-3. The rezoning will allow for the development of 20 residential lots with a density of 1.98 units per acre. According to conditions approved by the commission, the homes in subdivision must be at least 3,000 square feet in size. Prior to approval, Commissioner Jim Boff made a motion that an amendment be added to conditions the county’s planning board had placed on the rezoning request. Boff asked that information be provided to all prospective buyers in the development stating that, “The Forsyth County school system has indicated that at least one of the public schools in which this subdivision is located is over capacity for students.” Boff went on to request that the notification also include a statement noting that the commission “cannot guarantee you a seat in your public school district.” The amendment failed due to lack of a second, but was followed by some discussion among officials. Boff did ultimately vote in favor of the rezoning all with the other four members of the board.
