CUMMING — Beginning Wednesday, the Forsyth County Public Library will offer thousands of additional digital offerings. Through a new service, Hoopla Digital, library users will be able to download thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks. According to information from the library system, all visitors need to access Hoopla is a valid library card and email address. They can then download items to their smartphones, tablets or computers. Linda Kelly, assistant manager for material services, noted that people have been asking for digital movies and music for years.“[The service] is so easy to use and provides simultaneous use for everything, there’s no waiting,” she said in a statement. Library users will be able to install the free Hoopla app on smartphones or tablets, or visit www.hoopladigital.com, to instantly stream or temporarily download up to five selections per month. Movies and television episodes are available for a three-day checkout, while music albums are available for seven days and audiobooks for 21 days.“Most excitedly, all content is available simultaneously, no request lists, and all content will automatically return at the end of the checkout period so there are no late fees,” Kelly said. Besides Hollywood blockbusters and new releases from popular authors and musical artists, Hoopla offers foreign films in Spanish, French and Chinese, as well as educational materials, children’s materials, documentaries, fitness videos and more. Forsyth County will be the third library system in the state to offer Hoopla.“We are sure our patrons will embrace Hoopla as much as other library patrons across the country already do,” Kelly said. “There’s something for everyone with Hoopla.”
