FORSYTH COUNTY — Two Forsyth County high school students have received top honors from the state. Molly Butler of West Forsyth and Maggie Little of Forsyth Central were each named a 2014 Georgia Scholar by the Georgia Department of Education. Just 116 students made the department’s list of high school seniors who achieved academic excellence and led by example in their communities. Both students will receive a special seal for their diplomas.“We congratulate Molly and Maggie on this accomplishment that demonstrates four years of academic and extracurricular success,” said Forsyth County School Superintendent Buster Evans.“They have made not only their families and schools proud, but also those in our … community. We wish them tremendous success in their pursuit of lifelong learning.” Butler and Little showed excellence in school, community activities and at home. They and the other scholars performed well in challenging school courses and participated in interscholastic events and extracurricular activities.“There is only one thing I can say about our 116 Georgia Scholars, and that is: I am so proud to call each of you a student in the state of Georgia,” said State School Superintendent John Barge. “I know this honor is, for each of you, the result of many years of hard work, perseverance and dedication.“All of us at the department are proud of each one of you, and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.”
