WEST FORSYTH — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the single-vehicle wreck Sunday that caused the death of Paul Louis Castell Jr., as well as the party the 17-year-old and his friends had left moments earlier that reportedly involved as many as 60 teenagers and alcohol.“Investigators are still interviewing all subjects involved,” said Robin Regan, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. “We are talking to people who were at the party and additional charges and additional suspects may be coming soon.” According to the sheriff’s office, Castell was one of several teens who left the party that night in a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Adam Robert Joseph DiMillo. DiMillo lost control of the truck while entering a curve on Kelly Mill Road at a high rate of speed and struck a telephone pole at Rockingham Run, near Post Road and the Telfair subdivision. Castell, a rising senior at North Forsyth High, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The other three passengers — ages 15, 17 and 18 — suffered what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries. DiMillo has since been charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and underage possession/consumption of alcohol. He was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center after posting a $19,965 bond. The sheriff’s office has said that the crash occurred after the teens left a party at the home of Jeremiah Luke Funke, 18, whose parents were out of town, in the nearby Tallantworth subdivision. Funke faces three misdemeanor charges: possession of less than an ounce of marijuana; possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor; and maintaining a disorderly house. He was released from the detention center after posting a $2,365 bond. The investigation is ongoing and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges. They also are attempting to determine where the alcohol at the party came from. Di Millo, a former North student, is on probation for two incidents earlier this year, according to the sheriff’s office. On the morning of Feb. 3, he was cited for possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor at a Forsyth County school and released to his parents. Shortly after, the teen was seen walking along a road. After determining that he had left home while still under the influence of alcohol, authorities charged him with pedestrian under the influence. According to Castell’s obituary, his funeral services were held Thursday morning at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was buried next to his mother at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. A rising senior at North, where he played lacrosse and ran cross country, Castell was remembered by friends and family during a vigil Wednesday night at the school.
