FORSYTH COUNTY — Thanks to a community partnership between civic organizations and businesses, several local children recently received special gifts. The Cumming Kiwanis Club, Mentor Me North Georgia, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Al Abbott Agency Allstate Insurance and Reality Bikes joined forces to donate nine bicycles and helmets to children who participate in the Mentor Me program.“Our club was pleased to sponsor this project to provide bicycles and helmets to several deserving children in our community,” said Wes Dorsey, coordinator of the project and past president of the Kiwanis Club. Dorsey said Mentor Me and Children’s Healthcare helped the club select the recipients. Funding came from the civic club, the insurance office and the bike shop. Amanda Jones, the mother of two of the children who received bikes, said the donation was much appreciated.“Your thoughtfulness will provide countless hours of outdoor enjoyment,” she said. “And many thanks to Mentor Me for giving my kids a new outlook on positive living with males they look up to, resulting in good attitudes, better students and more well-rounded boys.”
