Northside Hospital-Forsyth has received top marks from the nation’s leading health care accrediting organization. Northside’s main campus in Sandy Springs also received the recognition. The Joint Commission recently recognized both hospital sites for exemplary performance and achievement in caring for patients in the areas of heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The hospitals were recognized for using evidence-based clinical processes shown to improve patients’ care. The recognition comes from reports made by the commission in 2011.The two campuses are among 620 hospitals across the country being recognized, representing the top 18 percent of commission-accredited hospitals. Janis Dubow, chief nursing officer and vice president of Quality Improvement for the main campus, said both sites were proud to be honored.“We strive to provide the safest care that is based on best practices resulting in consistent quality outcomes,” she said in a statement. Lynn Jackson, administrator of the Forsyth campus, said the results are good news for patients.“We understand that what matters most to our patients is high quality, safe and effective care,” she said. She also praised hospital employees for their contributions.“This recognition from the Joint Commission is a direct result of our staff’s hard work and dedication to provide high quality care every day,” she said.
