Erica Fried, Forsyth Central The Forsyth Central volleyball team won the silver bracket 5–1 at the Forsyth Challenge this past Saturday, and the boys cross country team came in second place at the Bob Blastow Invitational with Austin Campbell breaking the school record! It's been a great week for Central sports! Kevin Lee, Lambert Lambert’s student section leaders, the Dead Red Nation (DRN), were challenged to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, something that almost everyone should have heard of by now. The DRN failed to complete the challenge so instead decided to donate $100 dollars for ALS research and create a ridiculous video to show it. Once this video hit social media, it turned Twitter into WWIII and many scrutinized the DRN for creating it. Instead of continuing to fight back, they decided to challenge other Forsyth student sections to raise as much money as possible for ALS. The DRN has raised over $1,000 so far. The challenge ends this Friday. Lambert student Sean Tackett created the video, and many more of his awesome videos can be seen on his YouTube page, 3BelowFilms. Alli Prater, North Forsyth Hundreds of students gathered around the flagpole at North Forsyth on Friday to witness members of our ROTC pour buckets of freezing cold water on our administrative staff. Principal Dr. Beth Hebert; Assistant Principals Sharon Epperson, Randy Herrin, Dawn Phipps, and Keith Whitaker; Administrative Assistant Dr. Paige Galt; Athletic Director Nathan Turner; and Technology Specialist Tim Keyser all participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge and made a donation on behalf of our school. Go Raiders! Caitlin Randazza, Dani Quintana, Pinecrest Academy To kick off the week at Pinecrest Academy, there was an award ceremony for the academic achievements of students for last year. The volleyball team had a busy week of playing nine games total, defeating Eastside, Stockbridge, Pace Academy, Chestatee, North Hall and North Forsyth. To finish up the week, there was a high school Holy Hour and cookout, along with some fun volleyball competition! Erin Loggins, South Forsyth Here at South Forsyth we have started a new fundraiser called the “Leave Your Mark” United South Brick Paver Fundraiser. United South’s mission is about bringing school and community together to promote pride, spirit, culture and the student experience at South Forsyth. The gist of the fundraiser is to create a South Forsyth walk of fame! Current and past alumni of South are able to purchase a brick for $50 or $75 dollars to be incorporated in the new walkway to the football stadium. This fundraiser is a great way to show your pride in being a South Forsyth Alumni! Dori Butler, West Forsyth All over the United States people have been pouring ice water on themselves and donating to show their support for ending ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, and West Forsyth is no exception. Demonstrating their encouragement and good attitudes, hundreds of students here have already done the challenge, and even our new administration team has participated. This reporter had to see what all the buzz was about, so now I nominate Brian Paglia and my fellow Buzzmakers to take on the challenge.
