The Forsyth Central Lady Bulldogs softball team hosted the 7th Annual Pink Out Tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and Saturday, Sept. 6. The teams joined together mid-day Saturday to participate in the Pink Out Ceremony. Individual players and coaches walked either in memory or in honor of loved ones who have battled cancer. Players walked individually onto the field holding a balloon. The balloons were then released in honor of loved ones. Central then donated and presented a check to Northside Hospital's Cancer Center on Saturday for $3,092. These proceeds were from last year's Pink Out tournament. “It makes me a very proud coach to see how passionate the players and parents are to raise money and awareness,” Farrington said.“As we gathered this weekend to play a game that we all love, it was important to remember those who we play for and play in memory of,” Central coach Kaelin Farrington said. “While competition flows through our blood, this is a time where all the teams gathered as a family and as one team in the fight against cancer.” Lady Bulldogs senior Carrlyn Kiser has participated in the last four Pink Out tournaments.“The Pink Out is so near and dear to my heart,” Kiser said. “I loved participating in it my freshman and sophomore year but in my junior year it really hit a soft spot because my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer and was in the middle of her radiation during the ceremony. My senior year has been a celebration because she had been in remission. I am so proud to be a part of Central's support for our local Women's Cancer Center!”
