Caroline Bowns added 13 points and six assists for North (2-0, 1-0), while Okwunne Ogbogu had 10 points. BOYS BASKETBALL Furtah Prep 59, Horizon Christian 47 Ty Logan had 12 points but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors dropped a non-region game Friday night on the opening day of the 2014 GRIT. Michael Walker added 10 points for Horizon (1-1) while Jared Hamby added nine points. North Forsyth 60, Chattahoochee 56 JOHNS CREEK – Chad Bureau had 21 points and the Raiders withstood a fourth-quarter rally to hold on Friday for a Region 6-AAAAAA victory on the road. North (2-2, 1-0) held Chattahoochee to just two points in the third quarter as it built a lead, but the Cougars stormed back scoring 27 points in the fourth to make it close. The Raiders’ outside shooting helped them get through. Bureau hit five 3-pointers, Nick Cunningham scored all of his 19 points on six 3s and Dakota Holtzclaw made three 3s for part of his 14 points. Providence Christian 72, Pinecrest Academy 56 John Crone had 26 points but it wasn’t enough for a short-handed Paladins team Friday night in a non-region game. Zayne Riche added seven points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals for Pinecrest (0-1), who were without four starters still on the football team that played in the Class A private school playoffs.
