Erica Fried, Forsyth Central This week I decided to focus on the popular radio station at central called "The Central Wave.” During fourth period, senior Austin Campbell controls the computer that generates a variety of playlists and announcements. The station has about 60 viewers at a time who tune in and out throughout the day on either the website or radio station (92.1). The program shuffles genres every 30 minutes to just about every genre. Kevin Lee, Lambert Almost a year to this day, what was came to be known as “Snowpocalypse” swept through our area bringing the most snow that I can ever remember. Despite all of the horrors in Atlanta, the Snowpocalypse is really a dream come true for students of all ages in Forsyth County because it means one thing – no school. Following the holiday break, students seem to be all over social media hoping for another week off from snow. Although unlikely, Forsyth always seems to be very careful when it comes to weather, and let's just say us students are grateful. Alli Prater, North Forsyth Last weekend, head coach Eric Herrick and the Lady Raiders basketball team traveled to South Carolina for the Charleston Invitational. The tournament included 84 of the top teams in the Southeast in eight different divisions. North went 2-1 on the weekend, losing only to reigning state champion Elizabethton (Tenn.). The team explored the beautiful city of Charleston, S.C., and shopped the historic district in its spare time. Last night, they faced the also undefeated in the region South Forsyth, but the game finished too late for this edition. Go Raiders! Caitlin Randazza and Dani Quintana, Pinecrest Academy Pinecrest Academy’s swim team recently participated in the Lambert High School 3rd Annual Holiday Meet. (One of our very own Buzzmakers, Daniela Quintana, was ranked a top point-scorer!) Here are the top point-scorers from Pinecrest: Girls: Kate DelBalzo, 45.5 points; Daniela Quintana, 24.5; Claudia Szlek, 20.5; Theresa Reed, 18.5 points. Boys: Michael Denkman, 41 points; Patrick Carroll, 35; Jake Mangan, 32 points; Michael Birozes, 31. We would also like to acknowledge that Kate DelBalzo, a sophomore, set a new Pinecrest record for the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.03. Erin Loggins, South Forsyth I believe the phrase "ughhhh" would be the perfect way to describe this week. Yes, you have to turn off Netflix before 3 a.m., and yes you have to be awake before the sun is even shining. But on the bright side of it all only 90 more days left of the school year, that's something to celebrate. Also there was a HUGE match-up between your very own South Forsyth Lady War Eagle basketball team and North on Tuesday. Last season South ended North's winning streak in a Region 6-AAAAAA match-up, followed by a tough loss to the Lady Raiders in the region championship, only to advance farther in the state championship bracket landing South as a top four team in the state. This game is arguably one of the biggest of the season. Personally I cannot wait to be on the sideline to watch this game. I hope you all came out to watch it as well. As always, Go South! Dori Butler, West Forsyth We rang in the New Year this past week, and 2015 promises to be a new beginning for West Forsyth. For students, it marks a redemption semester for any academic mistakes during first semester as they resolve to work harder and earn the coveted A. For teachers, it marks one more semester to attempt to cram everything they need to into the heads of their students before the end of the year. Personal resolutions vary from finally asking the girl out to finally asking for help for a serious problem. No matter what the resolution is, I wish everyone luck, patience and safety. A new year holds new potential, new friends and new sources of happiness, along with the new challenges that I think we all are resolved to rise above and beat.
