The election to choose the Forsyth County employee representative on the civil service board has begun.Board clerk Charity Clark updated the three-member panel on the process during a meeting Thursday. The vote is between Tim Perry, who currently serves as a temporary member, and Charles Laughinghouse, a former county commissioner.Clark said two other nominations were also received, but one did not qualify and the second declined to participate.Voting began Wednesday and will end at noon Dec. 19.The county commission is expected to ratify the winner at its Jan. 8 work session. Also at that meeting, the commission likely will ratify the board’s 2013 appointments for clerk and hearing officer/general counsel, which were made Thursday.Dana Miles likely will continue to serve as legal counsel, as he has for at least a dozen years. The board selected Amber Watson as the new clerk to replace Clark, who cited her duties as the county’s risk manager for no longer being able to serve.Watson, an employee of the risk management department, has been sitting in on meetings since July.
