BASEBALL Forsyth Central 6, Creekview 5 CANTON – The Bulldogs scored in the top of the eighth inning to grab Game 1 of the Region 7-AAAAA championship series Tuesday on the road. Central (15-6) can clinch the region championship with a victory Wednesday night in Game 2. Parker Morrison got the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Bulldogs starter Reed Clark struck out six in six solid innings. Central had given away a 3-0 led by the fourth inning as Creekview scored one run in the third and four in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. The Bulldogs rallied, scoring twice in the top of the seventh to force extra innings and set up the dramatic victory. Taylor Bauman had two RBIs, Hunter Bauman had two hits and an RBI, Pierce Nufer drove in a run and Jose Meese had two hits and scored the game-winning run. Lambert 11, Alpharetta 1 ALPHARETTA – Seth Beer went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Longhorns cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday on the road. Cole Varner got the win for Lambert (16-5, 12-1) striking out three in two scoreless innings. Zach Graveno, Matt Vonderschmidt and Thomas Reddin combined to allow just one run in five innings of relief. The Longhorns also got strong days at the plate from Jeremy Johnson (2-for-5, 2R, RBI), JD Dutka (1-for-3, 2R, 2B, 2RBI), Brady Ballstadt (1-for-1, 2RBI), Will Dunavant (2-for-3, 2R, 2B, RBI), Bradley Leathers (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Josh McAllister (2-for-3, R).
