The name of the victim whose life was claimed in a wreck Friday afternoon in west Forsyth has been released by authorities. Ryan Unsworth, 35 of Dawsonville, was killed when his Nissan Altima collided head-on with a tractor trailer while traveling southbound on Bethelview Road just south of Kelly Mill Road around 2:30 p.m. on June 5. The wreck occurred in front of The Shops at Kelly Mill. According to Robin Regan, a spokesman with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Unsworth’s vehicle was pushed northbound about 55 feet after impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office’s crash investigation unit, Regan said, it appeared the Altima swerved into the northbound lane in the path of the tractor trailer. Drugs and alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors. The driver of the semi-truck, Tydus Tarver, a 51-year-old from Hiram, was not injured. He was hauling non-hazardous fertilizer that took several hours to clean up, causing Bethelview Road to be shut down from the intersection to Pittman Road. There were no other occupants involved. More than one witness corroborated the movements of the two vehicles.“I was at the stop light and saw the car turn left [onto Bethelview] and then just almost swerve into the other lane,” said one of the witnesses, Thom Tate. According to Regan, “charges are not pending at this time.” The death was the third in a week on Forsyth County roads and at least the seventh this year.
