FORSYTH COUNTY — A Marietta man has been indicted for a late-April encounter that gave a Forsyth County man a midnight fright in his home. According to Forsyth County court records, 33-year-old Edward Charles Pittman faces charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated assault stemming from the April 24 incident at Summit Crossing, near Lanier Technical College. Pittman reportedly ran through the woods away from sheriff’s deputies who had approached him on Ga. 400 between McFarland and Peachtree parkways (Hwy. 141), or Exits 12 and 13. They were responding to reports of a man pushing a motorcycle. The 2010 Kawasaki ZX6R was later confirmed stolen out of Cobb County. Pittman also faces charges for theft by receiving relating to the motorcycle. When Pittman entered an unlocked town home shortly after, he called himself “Eddie” and mentioned he was hiding because deputies thought he had stolen a motorcycle. He said he “didn’t do it.” Brian Skeoch, whose residence Pittman entered, said at the time the suspect woke him up and asked for a ride back to Marietta. Initial reports that Pittman threatened Skeoch with a knife appeared to be unfounded. However, the aggravated assault count was reasoned by “an assault upon the person of Brian Skeoch with a knife.” An initial charge of false imprisonment did not make it to the indictment. Skeoch called 911 under the pretense of getting dressed for the trip to Marietta. Deputies found Pittman locked in a bathroom in the town home and were able to detain him after he “initially failed to comply.” His indictment included two counts of obstruction of an officer. Nothing in the home appeared to have been stolen or damaged, save for a toilet that overflowed after Pittman reportedly tried to flush his shirt.
