A Forsyth County grand jury recently indicted an Orlando man on three counts of robbery by force and two counts of battery after a reported burglary turned violent. Brian Anthony Blake, 24, is accused of robbing the Simply Mac store in The Collection at Forsyth on Peachtree Parkway and injuring employees after they tried to stop him and another man from leaving the store. Deputies responded to the store shortly after noon on May 15 in reference to a shoplifting. Store employees told deputies shortly after Simply Mac opened, two black men entered and immediately walked to countertop computer displays with laptops on them, according to an incident report. The men reportedly began closing the lids of the computers and the employees circled the men, asking what they were doing. It was then, the incident report said, that the men grabbed the computers and ripped them from the tables. Though the male employees tried to stop the burglars, Blake reportedly punched one of them with his left hand while holding the computer in his right, while the other man ran to the front of the store, where a female employee was attempting to guard the door. During the commotion, one of the male employees was able to grab Blake’s supposed accomplice and tried to pull him backwards, the report said. However, Blake reportedly ran into the front door and into the female in an attempt to break up the scuffle. The men then ran toward the AMC movie theater and jumped into a Cadillac SUV, which fled the scene with $9,592 in stolen goods. Blake’s battery charges are in reference to him reportedly punching and running into the female. Forsyth County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey S. Bagley will preside over the case, though Blake failed to appear for his hearing. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. He originally posted a $22,110 bond on July 25.
