Forsyth County Parks and Recreation is offering weeklong Safety Town camps in June and July for children ages 4 to 6. Safety Town is a five-day program designed to teach children about safety awareness and preventive procedures. Topics covered will include stranger danger and car, bus, fire, gun, poison and water safety. This year’s camps will be held at Sharon Elementary School, 3595 Old Atlanta Road. Participants can also learn about traffic safety while driving kid carts through a child-size village.“The Safety Town camps continue to be one of our most popular programs,” said Laura Pate, recreation supervisor. “We partner with public safety agencies and other community volunteers to make this program successful.” Camps run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday over several weeks in June and July. Parents are invited to attend a graduation ceremony held on the last day. Each session costs $85. For more information about Safety Town or other summer programs offered by the parks and rec department, call (770) 781-2215 or visit www.forsythco.com/parks.
