A Roswell man will spend 15 years in prison for a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office discovery in April that turned up nearly $34,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine. Pedro Aguilar-Lopez, 22, pleaded guilty in Forsyth County Superior Court on Thursday to trafficking methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. Aguilar-Lopez received a 25-year sentence in his negotiated plea, with the remaining 10 years to be served on probation. He must also pay a fine of $525,100 at the rate of at least $125 per month once released from prison, which would take him 350 years if he paid the minimum to reach the full amount. Aguilar-Lopez was arrested in April by the sheriff’s office following a probe that also involved the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Roswell police and the Atlanta High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. Deputies stopped his 2004 Acura TL as he pulled into a business off Peachtree Parkway in south Forsyth. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up a half-pound of methamphetamine. Aguilar-Lopez then told deputies he had more meth at his Roswell home, at which deputies later found about a quarter pound of meth and a .45 caliber handgun.
