FORSYTH COUNTY -- On a night when most agenda items were postponed, the Forsyth County commission did deny a request for one assisted living facility while approving another. After hearing opposition from several neighbors of a proposed personal care home on Hitt Road during the public comments portion of their regular meeting Thursday, commissioners voted 5-0 to reject a conditional use permit. The facility would have renovated a current home on less than 1 acre to be able to care for up to seven people and allow guests between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. While commissioners denied the Hitt Road request, they did approve a conditional use permit for Aspire at Forsyth LLC to build a senior living and assisted living facility on about 8 acres off Mathis Airport Road, near Laurel Springs Parkway. The facility is slated to feature 100 senior housing units and 100 parking spaces. Several other zoning items were postponed to later meeting dates.
