Luella at Lambert When, where: Tuesday, 5 and 7:30 p.m., at Lambert High School in Suwanee; Wednesday, 5:55 p.m., if necessary. Records, rankings, seedings: Luella is 19-8, unranked in Class AAAAAA and the No. 2 seed from Region 2; Lambert is 30-1, ranked No. 1 and is the No. 1 seed from Region 6. What to know: Luella is back in the quarterfinals for the third time in school history and first since 2011 when the Lions lost to eventual state champion Parkview. Bryant Harris, a senior outfielder who signed with Georgia, is the leader for the Lions. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder was a pre-season all-American by Perfect Game USA and anchors the Lions’ lineup. But Luella is a veteran team full of seniors, including pitchers Trey Chapman, John Goodman and catcher Jimmy Little. They swept East Coweta, 13-8 and 10-6, thanks to 10 strikeouts from Chapman in Game 2 and 28 total hits. Lambert is in the quarterfinals for the first time in the program’s brief history. The Longhorns are coming off their toughest challenge of the season, a three-game series against Mill Creek in the second round in which Lambert staved off elimination after losing its first game all season and overcoming a 3-0 deficit in Game 3. Lambert’s bats have been hot, particularly Seth Beer, Jake Chickowski and JD Dutka, while the Longhorns have been getting solid pitching from Dylan Biumi, Beer, Dutka and reliever Turner Scruggs. What’s next: The winner plays the Coffee County-Parkview winner.
