SOUTH FORSYTH — The Paulk family was recently welcomed into their new home in south Forsyth. During a Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia dedication ceremony May 3, the family — which includes Felix and Alina Paulk and their three children, Josephine, 8, Lal, 5, and Christopher, 1 — expressed gratitude to everyone who had made the home a reality.“We are so excited and happy to have our new house,” Felix Paulk said. “Our dreams and hours of prayers have come true.“Thank you to everyone who helped us through the process from beginning to end. Words cannot describe how thankful we are and how blessed we are.” The home on Daves Creek Road was built in partnership with the family, Habitat volunteers and sponsors. Among the organizations that assisted with financial and volunteer labor were ADP, DataScan, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Ingenico, KeyWorth Bank and Siemens. Through Habitat for Humanity, the family received a 30-year, no-interest loan for the home. They also had to put in 200 “sweat equity” hours of work on the construction of the home and attend six classes on home ownership. Felix and Alina Paulk are natives of Burma. The United Nations Refugee Program assisted them in moving from Burma to Malaysia and eventually to the United States in 2010. They both work for Tyson Foods and have lived in Cumming for the last two years.
