Lambert at North Forsyth When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Raider Valley in Coal Mountain. Records, rankings: Lambert is 1-3 overall, 1-2 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; North is 0-4, 0-3 and unranked. Series history: Lambert leads 2-0. Last meeting: Lambert won 14-13 in 2013. What to know: Funny, Lambert finds itself in the same position as it did this time last season: 1-3 and facing North. Last year, the Longhorns won 14-13 when the Raiders elected to attempt a potential game-winning two-point conversion with no time left and failed. It was the spark for a 5-1 run that earned Lambert a playoff berth. Are the Longhorns poised for a similar run? Hard to say, especially coming off a 35-17 loss to Alpharetta. The Horns’ defense is trying to overcome an offense that averages just 192.3 yards per game. Senior linebacker Adison Schimmelpfennig has been a bright spot with a team-high 46 tackles including four for a loss. There have been few bright spots for North thus far. The Raiders are coming off a 55-3 loss to South Forsyth, the worst loss in the Civil War Game’s history. That came after a 49-0 loss to Northview at home. It makes for a remarkable one-year turnaround for the Raiders, who started 4-0 last season and went on to make the playoffs. Now, North is 0-4 for the first time since 2011. Something could be said about the level of competition the Raiders have faced. They’ve played opponents who are a combined 12-4 so far this season. North had to replace nine starters on defense and almost every significant playmaker on offense. Even with leading rusher Zac Slaton and leading receiver Colton Miller back, the Raiders average just 181.5 yards of offense. They averaged 311 last season.
