The formula will be simple but valuable. Lambert boys’ basketball coach Scott Bracco will bring three of his favorite drills to practices for the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association 2015 All-Star Basketball Showcase. He’ll let his two assistants do the same. By the end of the group’s time with the Junior North team from March 20-21 at Armstrong Atlantic University, hopefully they’ll have traded basketball ideas and had some fun too.“I was definitely excited to be selected to coach the all-star game,” Bracco said. “Definitely excited to work with the junior class.” Bracco was named as a head coach for the event for the first time, and he’ll have something of a star-studded roster to lead, none more impressive than St. Francis’ Kobi Simmons. The 6-foot-5, 177-pound shooting guard is the No. 5-ranked player in the country for the Class of 2016 according to ESPN. He’s got scholarships offers from Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Kansas among others. But there’s also Miller Grove point guard Alterique Gilbert, a consensus four-star recruit, and Gainesville shooting guard D’Marcus Simonds, another four-star prospect who has committed to Mississippi State.“We’ve got a roster full of very talented rising seniors,” Bracco said. Bracco is hoping he can add Longhorns point guard Tanner Hall to that roster. Bracco said Hall, a standout wide receiver on Lambert’s football team, is scheduled to participate in a combine event with the Rivals Camp Series that same weekend.“We’re trying to work out the logistics with him,” Bracco said. Bracco’s assistant coaches for the event will be East Hall head coach Joe Dix and Lambert varsity assistant and junior varsity coach Bob Martin. Together they’ll take on a South Junior team coached by Harrison boys’ basketball coach Clay Crump and led by Georgia verbal commit Jordan Harris, a shooting guard from Seminole County High School.“The experience will be fun, it’ll be exciting,” Bracco said. “It’ll be great to be around a lot of great coaches and players, and I’m just looking forward to the opportunity.”
